Happy Monday everyone, hope you overindulged in turkey and football this weekend. I am still trying to recover from my food and wine coma.
We must be in the golf off-season, as once again the most exciting news is Phil Mickelson and Alan Shipnuck feuding again. This time, the contention is over Alan’s claim that Phil was spreading news about Jon Rahm’s LIV signing. Phil was furious that Alan leaked this news first and expressed his frustration on X (formerly known as Twitter) directed at Alan. It’s unclear how, considering Alan showed that Phil ‘The Thrill’ had blocked him.
Alan Shipnuck’s allegation that Phil Mickelson was involved in Jon Rahm’s transfer to LIV Golf has been refuted by Mickelson himself. According to a recent report from Flushing It Golf, the Spaniard is in the advanced stages of signing his contract with the Saudi circuit.
Shipnuck stated that Mickelson had told people Rahm’s agreement with LIV was finalized. The six-time major winner, however, denied the accusation, asserting, “Alan is a liar.” He responded to the claims on his Twitter account, saying:
As much as I enjoy the Phil and Alan back-and-forth, it seems that regardless of what is said, Jon Rahm is headed to LIV golf. I don’t blame the buoy, a.k.a. Jon Rahm, for taking the cash and living happily ever after. However, I do think all this drama is weakening, not strengthening, the momentum the game of golf had coming out of the pandemic.
With that being said, we do have some good golf news to report on… Thank the holy golf gods, we have the Hero World Challenge this weekend, and none other than the big cat himself, TIGER MOTHERF’ING WOODS, is back on the course. He’s teeing it up for the first time since the 2022 Open and his first non-major since the ZoZo Championship in 2020.
I couldn’t finish off this post without mentioning that Tiger playing this weekend, makes you feel like Mack Daddy Santa is right around the corner!
